EMPLOYWELL - WALK FOR WORK 2025

A Charity Fundraising Walk by SBF Foundation and Partners

Walk for Work 2025 is the inaugural charity walk by the SBF Foundation in support of EmployWell - our flagship initiative to reintegrate vulnerable individuals into the workforce while addressing manpower challenges faced by businesses.

EmployWell helps jobseekers overcome employment barriers through tailored employability workshops, job coaching and matching, and proactive employer engagement. By equipping individuals with the tools to secure stable, long-term employment, the programme also supports businesses in meeting their workforce needs.

Our impact in over 3 years:

1,477

Clients who received employability support

897

Clients successfully placed in jobs

623

3-mths sustained employment

143

Employers who hire

Walk For Work 2025 aims to:

1. Mobilise the business community to champion inclusive hiring practice

2. Foster a more inclusive and resilient society through collective action

3. Magnify corporate purpose as a force for good in business

Join us in walking the talk for inclusive employment, and magnifying our impact.

The event also shines a light on inspiring stories of resilience and showcases practical pathways back to meaningful work.

Here are some examples:

A Second Chance at Lavender Bakery

At 71, Mr N faced severe hardship after losing his Indian clothing shop in Little India due to COVID-19, leaving him homeless and jobless. After months of sleeping at the airport, he sought help from a Family Service Centre, which connected him to New Hope Community Services' EmployWell Programme.

With guidance from a career coach, he reset his job expectations and landed a retail assistant role at Lavender Bakery, which valued his experience and dedication. Despite challenges with the transition, he adapted well through training and support.

Gaining stable employment allowed Mr N to regain financial independence, support his family, and rediscover purpose. His journey underscores the power of inclusive hiring and second chances.

The Power of Inclusive Workplaces

Another such individual was a 57-year-old man recovering from depression. He had been seeking a job close to home with manageable duties to support his mental health. With the help of a supportive employer and a dedicated job coach, he was hired and gradually found his footing. The steady income eased his financial stress, while the encouraging work environment played a key role in his recovery. Today, he has significantly reduced his daily medication intake and has even discovered a new passion: pursuing studies in elder care.

Lives transformed like this are made possible because companies like yours choose to step forward. With your support, we aim to reach even more vulnerable groups, like seniors and ex-offenders, and to strengthen partnerships with employers to embrace inclusive hiring.
